#7 It's been a while!

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 11, 2008, 11:46 AM
I was sure it was on it's way and I was right. I have a CGPA of 3.5...and I just completely FLUNKED my classes this quarter. I'm completely and utterly burned out. I haven't really picked up a pencil in weeks. I did a few little tiny illustrations in a dying effort to stay afloat in one of my classes, but that is all. I didn't even bother to show up for class for a month. I'm taking a break from school for a quarter. 4 tranquil months of no commuting, no deadlines, no 4 hour long boring classes. It starts today!!

I will update my page with the few scant drawings I've done over the past month. Maybe I'll post things I'll complete over the 4 months of freedom, we'll see.

On an up note: I'm ENGAGED!! I'll be getting married next summer to a wondrous fella, Matthew. So yes, contributing to my lack of ambition would be the wedding bells ringing in my head. I have made a save the date card I may soon upload here. I used crayon for the the design. I've been very drawn to crayons lately...I'm not sure why.

Anywho, hope things are well in Internetland! Till the next time I feel compelled to update this thing!

I'm so in over my head...

Hello to you all in internet land!

I'm a busy bee this horrible month of March. I'm finishing up my quarter at art school, I have papers to write, readings to do, a portfolio to put together. On top of that, I was just hired on at a new job that wants me to work 4 days a week (two days of school that gives me one day off to do anything). And on top of all that I have a freelance illustration job that's nippin' at my haunches to get it done NOW!!! *sigh* I hate being this chaotic.

Once April comes around, I'll feel a lot better.

Till then, internet friends.

Hello to you all.

Times are good...and SERIOUSLY busy. I just entered into a big time of transition in my life. For starters, I was just hired on as an animation intern at a game company. I'll be doing your basic grunt work for a time-cleaning up frames of animation cycles. They hired me for my drawing skill...I hope they put me to work with that someday. Anyway, it's a foot in the door, my first step in the right direction, a new chapter in the story of my life...you get my point.

A new quarter also started at school. Of course, I HAD to take the courses that require a billion hours in homework each week. I'm now getting use to a life where my sketchbook is attached to me always. It's a pain and very stress ridden, but the outcome will be me = better artist, which = good.

I'll be submitting more when I actually remember to do so. I'm the most forgetful person I know, I think..

Till next time...

Journal Entry #4!!!

Howdy everybody!!

Yup, summer vacation flew by quite fast. I got about half a botanical illustration done and it sits patiently atop my drawing table to be finished, which it won't be for a while because school's a bitch.

Summer quarter's been tough so far because my work schedule has been competing with my homework load...never a good thing. But so far, I'm keeping up. I finished some VERY quickly done and short animation clips for a little film our group is producing in one of my classes. I'm painting my frames so maybe I'll post some here during the process. We've gone from an 11 people team down to a ~5-6 person team..we've had to divvy responsibility accordingly. Did I mention that we had to finish this entire film in a five week span. Ugh, that fifth week is quickly approaching now...and I can't wait for it to be over..

I'm filling up my sketch book with awesome drawings of cartoons, anatomy studies and figure drawings...one of my best sketchbooks yet.

I'm also getting a lot of Photoshop painting practice. Again, I'll post finished products like the portrait study of the African American woman here.

Anywho, back to work. I have a caricature portrait of all my kitties due tomorrow.

Talk to you later.

Some comments on life...

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 24, 2007, 9:17 PM
'ello once more internet folk.

I'm currently on summer vacation (all glorious 3 weeks of it) from school and I'm trying to make en effort in getting started with my own work.

I've been asked by my boss to do some botanical illustrations for the museum store. I want to have those done by the end of the break. I'll post pictures of those once I actually get them done. I've decided on cherry blossoms and some orchids (Paphiopedilum sp. and Cattleya sp.). Should be fun, I haven't done an illustration like these in a while and it'll be nice to have a final artwork when I'm done. To tell you the truth, I'm kinda tired to filling up printer pages of sketches.

So yes, once school begins again I shall be up to my elbows in sketching once more. I have 2 drawing classes and 2 Photoshop painting classes. I'm really looking forward to it...I think I struck up a liking for Photoshop. I was worried there for a while...that everything technological I'd hate always, which would make me undesirable to the industry.

Things in life are going well, awesome! It's about time, honestly. Anyway, on to other things. Ta Ta!!
